We talk so much about yoga and asanas but usually we don’t
pay much attention on which is the best time to practice it. Practice time has
a very significant effect for the effectiveness of yoga.
Most of the yoga programs are mainly aired on TV during
morning time. There sure must be a valid reason for that.
In yoga science, the day is divided into four parts, Brahma
Muhurta and Sandhya Kalas (time before and after sunrise and sunset). Of these,
Brahma Muhurta and Sandhya Kalas have been considered the best for yoga
practices. If you are doing yoga during this time, your will get maximum benfits of your practices because your life energies are in such state that yield maximum benefit. That
is one aspect of it.
It is recommended that all yogic practices must be completed
before 8:30 in the morning or after 4:00 or 4:30 in the evening. Noon is not
recommended as it is meal time and yoga practices needs a gap of at least 4 to
6 hours after eating. Another reason you may sweat more during the noon hour
because of the heat, which could dehydrate your body.
It is believed that if you do yoga by getting up in the
Brahma Muhurta, you get the most benefit. Brahma Muhurta, is the time
anywhere between 3:30 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. At that time the atmosphere is
pure and fresh air is moving. Usually, only those who attain spiritual
knowledge do yoga at this time.
It is not possible for everyone to get up at this time, so
if you do yoga even at sunrise, it is better. This keeps the body energetic
throughout the day.
Keep in mind that yoga yoga should always be done on an
empty stomach.
You can do yoga even during sunset, but till four hours
before that you have not eaten anything.
There is no wrong time to practice yoga. Everyone has a
different lifestyle and eating habits, so you can practice it whenever you find
the time best suitable for you, either in the morning or in the evening. When
you doing regular practice you will be able to do it on ideal time, most
important thing is to practice yoga regular.
